Questions

LTL shipping, answered

Everything shippers ask about LTL rates, freight class, and how quoting with GetLTLRates works.

How much does an LTL shipment cost?
An LTL rate is built from your lane, the shipment's freight class, its weight bracket, the current fuel surcharge, and any accessorials (liftgate, residential, inside delivery). Because carrier pricing is negotiated, two shippers moving identical freight often pay very different amounts — which is exactly why comparing carriers on one screen saves money.
Do I need to know my freight class?
No. Enter your pallet dimensions and weight and we calculate density and the NMFC class for you. If you already know the class or NMFC item, you can enter it and we'll use yours — some commodities carry a fixed class regardless of density.
Is GetLTLRates free to use?
Yes. Quoting is completely free with no account, credit application, or minimums. You only pay for a shipment when you choose to book one, at the rate you were quoted.
Which carriers do you compare?
National carriers including FedEx Freight, Old Dominion, XPO, Estes, SAIA, R+L Carriers, TForce, ABF, Averitt and Southeastern, plus strong regional carriers on lanes where they win on price or transit time — 50+ in total.
Who is Armstrong Transport Group?
Armstrong Transport Group is the licensed freight brokerage that powers GetLTLRates — a national 3PL with carrier relationships across the LTL market. GetLTLRates is the fast, self-serve front door to Armstrong's rates and support.
What happens after I request a quote?
You get live, bookable rates — usually within the hour. If you want to move the freight, a dedicated Armstrong rep schedules the pickup, sends your BOL and labels, tracks the shipment, and handles any claims. Nothing is booked until you say so.
